Hi
Glad to hear that we have made some progress with your FS problems. I have got to admit that I think the way the Key commands in FS are listed can be a little confusing as they rely on the Num Lock key being in a certain state for the keys to actually work as indicated. [Probably a hangover from early versions of this programme] Not cetain how to explain, but if you consider the Num Lock key just acts in a similar fashion to the Shift key on the main section of the keyboard. When the Num Lock is on it is the number on the key that is pressed that gets sent, when the Num Lock is off it is the alternative command that gets sent [The alternative commands are written below the numbers - well they are on my UK keyboard] Touchbuddy does not actually look at the current state of the Num Lock key, it just sends what you have actually programmed to be sent. Sorry don't have any payware installed in my version of FSX, still have not had much time to mess around with it yet. If you have any other problems just go ahead and post them, we will see if we can be of some help. Don't have Teamspeak and have never used messenger. Regards |

Scrambler and WBK,
Dang Scrambler, you are correct, I just noticed, probably for the first time, now I'm internalizing it, that those are the keys that actually get emulated. Jeeze, all these years I've been using computers, and now you bring to my attention this simple, little undocumented thing. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent on this one problem, plus probably driving WBK to throw me off this forum! I will have to go back to my other PC and see if I can fix my profile to correct all these issues, and to see if I need to re-examine what is going on with LevelD 767......I still may have problems with the 767. But this is a "big" find and I can't thank you enough for this tip. One could never do this hobby if it weren't for the internet forums, and helpful people like you and Wild Bill!!!! Scrambler, I do have one more question, what about the other keypad buttons such as /, -, +, Enter, and 5? Are these keypresses unchanged? WBK, shall we put on hold our getting together until I have a chance to make the changes necessary to see if I need to go further with you? Bill |

Yes, I think we should hold off and see what else you can get ironed out with Scrambler. This seems to identifying stuff you can fix. Let me know if you want me to test later...

/ * - + ENTER are not affected by the status of the Num Lock key. 5 is CLEAR. Just had a look at some old joystick profiles that I downloaded and they also seem to have used the wrong keys for the trim function - strange because the trim is maped to joystick buttons 3 & 4 by default [I think] So you are not alone in making this error. [WBK's FS touchbuddy profile also seems to be incorrect, which had me puzzled for a bit] Have not checked all of your profile yet but it may be worth enabling the "Alway on Top" option. See sticky in the FS section for the reasons - easy to do in WBK's toolkit. Glad to be of some help. Regards |

WBK and Scrambler,
Hey, thanks for your help, I believe that I can make a Touchbuddy Profile that will work for both FSX and FS9 default planes. However, I'm having issues with the LevelD 767 as they have re-mapped some of the default keys to other purposes, so there are some issues that I will first seek help on the LevelD forum before I come back here. So WBK, we can put your effort on hold for now. Thanks again gentlemen! Bill |

Ok, I've only got 2.5gig free on my C: drive, so I am going to un-install FS9 in a few days/week. So, let me know if you want to do some testing...

PS:
Bill, I thought you said some of those keystrokes on the Numpad keys work when you used your keyboard, but not when you used TB. How is it that it is now working? I don't understand this at all....

As Scrambler pointed out to me, when Num Lock is off, for example, then the Numpad7 key actually becomes the "Home" key. Take a look at your keyboard and notice the "dual" lettering on the buttons. For example, numpad8 also has the Up Arrow inscribed on it, and Numpad1 has End inscribed on it. As Scrambler suggested, use HOME, PageUP, etc, instead of numpad2, numpad 5 and so on. I'll have to admit, it was an eyeopener to me. So to summarize, depending on the state of the Num Lock key (on or off), by pressing the numpad key will either issue the numeral 7 or "Home". I learn a few new things every week. I hope this helps. Yes, you can go ahead and uninstall FS9......as my newest issues are now with the LevelD 767 add-on package, which you don't have. I've put a message on the LevelD forum to see if I can get some help from those people. So Wild Bill, I really do appreciate your help on this issue. Thanks, Bill |

Did Dodger ever get the Screenshots fixed so you can upload new ones? WBK

I sent Dodger and Tu-Buddy (not sure I spelled correctly) a PM a while back. But to answer your question, it is still broken as it produces the same error message. Bill |
