That download was called FSX-Bingo. Does that work with FS9?

WBK,
Yes, this file should work well for FS9, there may be a few issues (differences), but I believe the issues lie with the NumPad keys. As an aid, I've attached a zip file that contains all the default FS9 commands. If there is anything else you need, just hollar. Bill |

Bill,
How about if we go on Teamspeak and talk. Or even MSN Messenger we can talk. Do you use one of these? And when are you available? It's been a long time since I've used FS9 and I think it would be good for you to walk me through some of the tests you would like me to do. I press the numpad keys and they change the external view to different sides of of the aircraft as expected. So, I need help to know when those slew, pitch, etc and other numpad keys are valid to press, and what to expect... WBK

Hi
I have just put together a new rig and installed FSX a few days ago [Vista 64] I am new to Vista and have not used FS for some time so you will need to bear with me while I get up to speed. I have had a quick check of your FSX profile and can confirm that the slew commands don't work as presently configured. I think the problem may be that you are sending NUMPAD comands which I think is incorrect. [The FS 4 keylist you posted states at the bottom that the Num LOCK should be off] I think you need you need to use HOME, PgUp, End, PgDn, LEFT, UP, RIGHT, Down key commands when in slew mode. I have modified a few of the buttons in your profile and now seems to work OK. Can you give it a try and see what happens. Regards Last edited by Scrambler; 07-01-2008 at 11:43 PM. |

Thanks for offering to help Scrambler.
I thought I remember in the previous thread (from a month ago) that Bill said it worked if he used his keyboard, but not TB. So, if he is just using the wrong keys it would not work at all. But I think that was the Rudder Trim maybe? Not sure.. Any help is appreciated!

WBK and Scrambler,
Thanks for joining this thread Scrambler, so let me answer some of the questions and propose a few things: 1) TeamSpeak and Yahoo Messenger - WBK, yes, I use both of them, in fact, I have a TeamSpeak Server on one of my PC's so we can setup a connection. BTW, I'm on Pacific Standard time and I live in Southern Calif just north of San Diego. I have the feeling that WBK is in the UK? So let me know which day and a range of timeframes you might be available? Then I'll send you a PM as to the IP address, or my email address. 2) I did have issues with the Elevator trim commands which are: UP = Numpad7 Down = Numpad1 Note: I believe Num Lock has to be ON in this case 3) Yes, keyboard commands work, but the equivalent TB touch screen commands don't. 4) Slew Commands in FS9 and FSX - I just compared the slew commands in both flight sims and they are for the most part identical, especially the Numpad key button commands. 5) NumLock Key Off - yes, according to the command list this keyboard button is supposed to be off when in Slew Mode. I have tried it both ways, in fact TouchBuddy SW permits you to send a shift key which I believe does the same thing, temporarily. 6) How to make slew mode work, I'm going to suggest for WBK's benefit: First go to the outside view where you are looking at the plane on the end of any runway, but not the tower view. Toggle "s" until the correct view appears. You can execute slew commands via the TB touch screen, or the keyboard commands shown below. Here we go: a. Turn slew mode on/off = Y and I believe Num Lock should be OFF b. Altitude up Slowly = F3 (make sure A/C is high enough off the ground) c. Freeze Vertical Movement = F2 d. Move Backward = Numpad2 e. Freeze all movement = Numpad5 f. Rotate Left = Numpad1 g. Freeze all movement = Numpad5 h. Bank Left = Numpad7 i. Freeze all movement = Numpad5 After trying the above commands with both the keyboard and Touchbuddy touch screen, hopefully you should see the issue. Also, the FS9 slew commands are in the zip file I sent WBK in one or two messages above. So, Scrambler, you should be able to download and unzip. Bill |

Hi
I think we may be misunderstanding each other here. I have tried your FSX profile and can confirm the Trim and Slew commands do not work. Can you try modifing your profile with these settings Trim down use predef:HOME Trim up use predef:END Slew left use predef:LEFT Slew right use predef:RIGHT Slew back use predef: DOWN Slew forward use predef:UP Slew bank left use predef:HOME Slew bank right use predef:PAGEUP Freeze all movement use predef:CLEAR Slew rotate left use predef:END Slew rotate right use predef:PAGEDOWN I have tried these settings and they worked OK. Let us know how you get on, I am sure we can get to the bottom of this. Last edited by Scrambler; 07-02-2008 at 12:18 AM. |

Nope, WBK is in Cincinnati, Ohio. So, it's Eastern Time. I can get on your teamspeak during the daytime up until about 7pm usually. I'll be gone this weekend for the 4th. So, PM me your TS info and when you want to get together. Also, PM Scrambler if he uses TS maybe?

WBK and Scrambler,
WBK - great, you live in a reasonable time zone, at least for me. So either Wednesday afternoon or Thursday Morning will be great for me. I'll PM you my IP address and email. BTW, my youngest sister lives in Dayton - the museum at Wright Patterson is awsome! Scrambler, if you want to join us that will be fine as well, if the time is bad for you, suggest a better time. So I did try Scramblers suggestion above and everything works (slew and trim UP/DOWN). So I have a few questions: 1) Why don't the stated commands, both in the sim and the fs9 "cheat sheet" work, that is the Numpadx keys? They are clearly called out in both the FS9 and FSX key menu definitions in the sim. I just don't understand? 2) Scrambler, where did you find these other key combinations, and where are they listed? Are there other commands I'm not aware of that are not on the fs9 "cheat sheet" I posted on this site for WBK? 3) Scrambler, do you have any sophisticated payware planes like the LevelD 767? When I'm running the LevelD 767 under fs9 on my other PC, there are some TB commands that work with MS default planes, but not the LevelD 767. This is a separate issue. The good news is that this solves some of my problems. Of course, this is an even bigger mystery to me now that there appears to be an alternate command set, yet unpublished, I was not knowledgable about. Thanks, Bill |
