Touchbuddy can be installed as an application on the gaming system if that system supports dual screen mode. The primary screen is the game itself, and the secondary screen becomes the touchscreen TB interface. Alternatively, there is an option to run TB on a second system which communicates back to the gaming system to execute the keystrokes.
Regards, TB

Has there been any testing as to what kind of performance hit you get with running it local vs server. Basically is it worth it to setup a second system to run as a client or does running local mode take the same resources as server?

running client/server is a far better way of reducing resources on the game machine. The "server" part just opens a network port and listens for commands, which then sends the macros. The "client" part has to deal with loading the images, displaying and updating them, taking the touchscreen presses and working out which button was pressed. The "local" part has to do ALL of the above (apart from the network bit).

![]() Have you noticed any resource usage with lomac active plugins in client/server mode? i guess its still just sending a small amount of data over the network. |

I am by no means "an awesome programmer", I just had an idea that seemed to be worth following up on.
The active modules use a fair amount of CPU time to create the images in local or client, but as you guessed, the actual data sent between server and client is fairly small, and has almost no CPU hit on the server for sending it across the network.

yes, running client on one PC and server on the gaming PC will eliminate the setcapture problems (and a few others problems too)

I am planning on trying to run with a seperate computer for the server side of my touch screen....but I am a dumbass and don't really understand how it all will work together? Will my screen, video cable, and usb cable be on my server computer? I assume all the touchbuddy software will be running on my server computer? The network cable will be my communication as the client side for the simulation I will be running? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me with this endevor.......BTW....touchbuddy is the most useful addon for any racing sim in my opinion...thank you so much for your efforts!

The computer running TB in Server mode should be the one running the game. The client(s) have the touchscreen(s) connected and run TB in Client mode, sending the keypresses to the server.

I am also a home computer dumbass. The key is admitting it and getting help.
So I was thinking that there must be some good website or resource that provides a 1-2-3 how-to setup tutorial for setting up a home network - what software is required, what hardware, cables, plug slot A into slot B, etc. Probably XP allows for this easy enough, but I don't really know. If somebody has a good link to post here, that would be cool. At some point, I can see that in order to run more than one TB I will need to do a network set up. So that day is probably coming....
