IL2/PF Problems....
I just rebuilt my pc and everything has been working great except for IL2/PF. For the past 9 months everything worked well, so I was pretty sure it was not a hardware problem. This took me many hours/days to resolve, so I thought I'd share the solution in case it may help someone else.
I had several problems:- Whenever I would start IL2/PF I would usually get a general Application Error message box and it would just close IL2/PF. I have a ATI Radeon 9700, and if I turn Anti-Aliasing completely off, it fixes this Error.
- Also, sometimes IL2/PF would just stop responding to all Keystrokes. So I changed the TrackIR4 Software from 4.1.029 Alpha 3 to 4.1.030. I think it was trapping all keystrokes sometimes, but not sure. But I played IL2/PF for 4 hours last night and this problem is now gone.
- Also, when I would Alt-Tab to the Desktop to try and fix these other errors, IL2/PF would not restore when I would Alt-Tab to it, or click on it in the Taskbar. Once in a great while it would, but not most of the time. I just unloaded my TouchKit software and now I can Alt-Tab from the Game to the Desktop and back with no problems. I reloaded the TouchKit software and then I could not restore the game again. Unloaded them and I could again. I did this several times and it was the same. I recently went to the TouchKit 4.3.7.3321 drivers, so I changed to the 4.3.6.2817 drivers. This also seems to have fixed this Alt-Tab Restore problem with IL2. But now these drivers would just stop responding after a few minutes. In the game and even just in Windows. So, I am back with the old standby 4.3.0.2412 Beta drivers from a year ago. They seem to be working fine as usual.
I had none of these problems with Lockon. But for you IL2 flyers out there, I hope this info can save some of you some time solving these problems.
