TB reintroduced LOMAC to me

Default TB reintroduced LOMAC to me

Installing Touch-Buddy and using the sample profiles has really propelled my interest in learning how to really fly LOMAC. I've had it since it came out, but was always overwhelmed by the amount of controls I had to memorize.

Now I feel like they're just a touch-screen away!

My question to the obvious LOMAC pros out there (ruggbut, Zorlac, etc. - who's names I see on all the other simhq, lockon.ru sites) is where do I go to learn how to fly the F15 the best I can? I mean, really learn how to use all the controls.

Basically, since the game has come out, I've just jumped into the f-15 quick fly and just fly around in that thing - and I love it. But I really want to get to know these jets - I've been flying IL2 for over 4 years, but jets are a different monster.

Thanks for any help and guidance in the right direction - sorry if its OT, but it was because of Touch-Buddy that I'm really interested in LOMAC again.

Check out these threads:

And this one for sure:

This last one is huge. It comes with a web interface that I have put in a tab in TB. Haven't used it much yet, but it's a lot of online training videos.

Wild Bill -

What was the code you used to make it a module?

I tried copying the one you made for LOMAC maps and I couldn't get the training index.html to come up. All I did was change the filename to the location of that html doc. Nothing happens when I click on my TRNG tab.

The MAPS module that you made, though, works great.

I'm doing some maps too, more like screenshots of the airbases from overhead rather than the charts. A couple of my guys requested something different so I'm slowly but surely getting them done.

As for learning to fly the '15, try the training missions for it. You'll learn more than you can imagine from those alone.

Can you copy and paste your Plugin code here so I can look at it. I've see some confusion on what a module vs a plugin is. Partly due to Zorlac first releasing everything as modules, then changing it to modules and plugins.

Here's Mine:

[new-plugin]
# the type of the module on this new tab
type = activex
# the name of this plugin
name = Video
# the name of the tab this plugin will be added to
tabname = Video
#activex requires something to load
load = file://D:\My Documents\TouchBuddy-0.6.2 - Beta\profiles\LockOn - FC\Plugins\LOFC_Training\index.html
# positioning of this object, top left corner
# if *ANY* one of x/y/width/height parameters are
# missing, the ActiveX object will be set to fill
# the window "client" area
# pixels from left edge
#xpos = 20
# pixels from top edge
#ypos = 100
# width of this activex object
#width = 600
# height of this activex object
#height = 300
# want vertical scroll bars?
vscroll = 1
# want horizontal scroll bars?
#hscroll = 1
[end-plugin]

There is one problem with this right now. When you click on a Movie link, the movie pops up and plays in Media Player, not in TB. I have easily fixed it by adding one more .html file for each video. But I have only fixed one for a test. I have not got around to fixing the others yet as I am very busy on the Toolkit. But I did get it to easily display the Media Player right in TB.

So this will be awesome. This webpage has great instructional videos and data that is displayed right in TB. Awesome! When I get around to fixing the rest of them, I'll post the stuff here.

Yea, I think you are talking about the maps that Rugg made. I haven't made any plugins yet. That is a plugin. A module is something zorlac built-in to TB. Plugins are things we can display in a webrowser. Like a website; .html file; .jpg or .gif files, MS Media Player;... anything that you can view in a webpage.

Hey JRH147, Can you test this out for me? I converted all of TekaTeka's Lockon FC Training Videos so they work with TouchBuddy.

Can you download this and test it for me. Read the Readme file and see if my instructions make sense and test it to see if it works for you too?

I'll try it out this weekend - although, because I'm running it off of a 2nd computer, I don't have a problem with WMP opening up a new window. In fact, I just went ahead and used Firefox to view TekaTeka's pages on my TouchBuddy.

But I'll try yours out this weekend. Thanks for the help!

Default Touch Screen

Wild Bill,
I have just found this website and the Touch Buddy sw. I d/l the demo video, very impressive. I am interested in knowing some of the details of the touch screen used in the demo, ie. the make, size and so forth. This looks like a much needed add on to Lock On and other flight sims. Just need some direction regarding the touch screen itself. Thanks

Try these two threads:

TouchScreen Sources

and

Where are we getting the Touchscreens from?

The screen in the video is my LinITX 8" 4:3 screen, listed at the top of the first thread listed above.

I have an Innovatek TM-868 8" touch screen. It has a native resolution of 640x480, but can go much higher. If I were to buy one again I would look for one with a native resolution of 800x600. If you set the screen to something other than the native resolution the small text can become garbled. Images and everything else look just fine, but reading small text is best at a screen's native resolution. That's what I've learned in the past week.
