Here's a potential fix for the black screen in local mode -problem, WBK invented it:
Change the line on_top = 0 to on_top = 1 in your FSX profile and it should now work in full screen local mode. At least it does for me, I'd appreciate confirmation from other FSX users. Last edited by Wild.Bill.Kelso : 01-06-2008 at 07:16 PM. |

This can also be changed in the TB Toolkit on the Windows tab. Check the checkbox in the Windows Option that says: 'Always on Top?'

Wow, great
![]() That's one thing I was waiting for. TB now really seems to work with FSX. Only thing is: I had to change the fsx.cfg manually. FSX sees the two outputs of my nVidia 7800 as two cards, xxx.0 and xxx.1 and refuses to set a resolution of 800x600 for the second one in the setup. This ends up in an error message of my TS ("unreachable"). But once I changed it manually TB works. Thanks a lot for this great finding. Now we only need someone with the right skills (that is not me ) to make a great profile. |

A minor gotcha I saw. I found that if I enter a flight and then Alt-Tab out of FSX, when I Alt-Tab back to FSX, TB and FSX are fighting for the second video display (they flicker back and forth, and also mess up the textures on the main display). This only occurs when I'm in an actual flight. If I exit the flight back to the FSX main menu and start a flight again, it's all OK. Not surprising because exiting the flight causes FSX to revert back to a normal single display mode vs. blanking all the displays.
I also found out that if I open a 2D panel and place it on the touch screen with TB (say using a large touch screen with enough room to put TB and the GPS together on the same display), if I press any buttons (or click anywhere on the 2D panel), it does the same thing. It causes FSX and TB to fight for the display and flicker back and forth. This is unfortunate because with a large enough touch screen, I can use the GPS and a 800x600 or 640x480 TB screen on the same monitor (using the touch screen to press the GPS buttons as well as the TB screen), but the graphics issues prevent this. I'll have to do some more testing to see if I can find a way to overcome this. Maybe there's a fsx.cfg setting that helps. This may depend on your video card/drivers (or maybe even specific setup of those cards and video ports). I have a pair of nVidia 8800GT cards, with one monitor on each video card. Of course, SLI is turned off.* |
