TouchBuddy issue with LevelD 767 running under FS9 in a client/server environment.
In an attempt to interface a Touch Screen with LevelD 767, I've discovered that it is not possible to send some key press commands. For example, I'm not able to turn on or off, the Flight Director by sending a "CTL F" from the client to the server when I have the LevelD 767 running under FS9. But, if I send a "CTL F" directly from the keyboard on the PC running FS9, it does toggle the Flight Director on and off. The second case is, if I load the default Boeing 737, I'm able to turn the flight director on or off using TouchBuddy SW via the touch screen. The TouchBuddy works great with IL-2, Falcon 4.0, and default planes in FS9 and FSX, although I have yet to complete all the FS9 and FSX profiles I'm building. My goal was to develop a screen for the MCP (flight director) to show the feasibility of interfacing with a complex add-on like the LevelD 767.....a few of my friends are flying the particular A/C add-on. Configuration - I'm running the TouchBuddy SW over a network with the touch screen on the Client machine and FS9 as the server on the 2nd machine. Both PC's are running Windows XP. Anybody running into this issue on their systems? BTW - I love this SW and I believe there are many opportunities, maybe even more than the combat sims, for those using FS9 or FSX to simplify the User Interface via touch screen technology. Bill |

Welcome Bill!
That is a specific problem, and as you have said, TB works with everything else, so it seems it must be something to do with that LevelID 767. That sounds like a hardcore aircraft, and maybe they changed something in the way FS works to make it do all that it does. Lot's of those aircraft do come with custom .dlls that FS loads for sound and other things. Maybe they have one that is causing a comflict? I would just suggest that you disable any/all custom .dll or .exe that this aircraft uses, and see if that fixes the problem. You need to narrow down the problem and find out where the cause lies. If you can find the problem is with the aircraft, maybe the devs will look at it. They can test it with TB easily since it is free, and you could let them use your profile. That's about all I can think of... WBK

Thanks for your quick response. One more thing, I did notice that I was able to raise and lower the flaps using my client/server setup, but I couldn't do anything with the navigation controls. Like I said, I could initiate keypresses from the keyboard for navigation controls (buttons), but not via the TB client/server SW combo. I still don't understand why I can make the keyboard work, but not TouchBuddy? I have relatives coming this week, so I won't be able to do too much until next week. I will try TouchBuddy in local mode to see if I have the same issues later, unless I can find time this week. I did raise the issue about this on the LevelD 767 forums, but didn't solicit any responses. All their developers are busy trying to get their new B-757 product released. I don't exepect expect too much interest in my issue until that happens......however, they haven't been too helpful in the past with 3rd party SW or HW. I gather that your team doesn't have access to the LevelD SW? Bill |

Zorlac, the developer of TB has taken a break from it for about 8 months now, so he is not doing any development on it at all. Further TB development is totally on hold for now.

Too bad about Zorloc taking a break.....I hope he returns, or is he gone for good?
I'm curious, what other features would you anticipate adding to TouchBuddy to improve or enhance the feature set.....assuming Zorloc returns, or someone else takes over the development chores? Bill |

There is a list of enhancements to TB, but I don't remember them all. Some obvious stuff like allowing one button specify changes to other buttons. Kind of scripting... Probably most of the stuff you can think of just using TB for a while is on the list.
