button making software

I'm not very good with Photoshop or, indeed, MS Paint, so I'm looking for a nice bit of software to help make button graphics for me.
There's dozens of web based one that only allow you to put text on the button and I want to put graphics on them.
Nothing special, I just want to be able to create a button size of my choosing, maybe add a bezel or some other simple effects, the pop a descriptive graphic on it then save it out to GIF.
All suggestions gratefully received.

I don't now of any 'simple' ones but maybe somebody else does. The most popular free great graphics program is called GIMP. I have downloaded it and looked at it and it can do a lot. But I didn't want to spend the time to relearn how to do everything at the moment.

I do remember somebody posting some web ones as well. But it sounds like you have found some of them already.
