I just got my client/server with triple head setup all back up and running and have to say I learn something new all the time. I read about multi instances of TB running and got the idea to try it out.
I installed the latest intell onboard graphics drivers on yet another broken screened laptop I have...this one is a desk space saver albeit expensive one at that as it's a not so tough book panasonic w2. I got the drivers on there so I could rotate my screen for page view. I'm still running a keytec 1315 overlay on a 15" LCD screen and now I can effectivly run 2 instances of TB one on top of the other and have them look right at their profile made resolutions. My screen is running at 768 x 1024 so split it in half and you get two 768 x 512 window areas for each instance. I think this is pretty cool. It's probably old news for most of you but if not I thought I would pass along my discovery. The buttons are still easily used just like two smaller 768 x 512touch screens stacked vertically. Cool stuff! |

Nice aXr! ggg has also had a multi-TB setup with Triplehead. He actually was modifying some profiles to be one giant profile I think.

Indeed WBK,
just waiting for the scrollbars as we discussed here: (gentle poke with cattle prod) New version of TOUCHBUDDY ? good thinking aXr, i can confirm that multiple instances of TB with more than one tab open @ a time is the good oil. for example, with the F-15 profile you can be selecting radar modes on the "left tab" while also viewing the full screen "tews tab" simultaneously. rotating the screen, multiple tabs @ once, good thinking. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by ggg; 05-21-2008 at 12:56 AM. |

One more thing to add. I found another cool little freeware app called WinSplit Revolution. It's pretty handy for auto sizing the open windows on a desktop using either it's GUI icon or just hot keys. This lets me set the position of the two instances easily for top and bottom placement without having to drag them to the exact right position. WinSplit Revolution
Kinda nice to use for all desktop use as well...sort of like the built in Mac feature if you have seen or used it. |

aXr:
more i think about it the better it sounds, got any screens of your sideways setup? ps: the tbtoolkit allows for many options, including position and size of each instance of tb, i think what i do is edit a profile with the tbtk, set the size and position, select which tab the profile will open with, then save it with a file name reflecting the position, in this case lets say "tophalf" or whatever. now when you start the tophalf profile up it comes, same goes for bottomhalf profile. exactly as you want it. Sorry for the lag on a reply ggg, you probably tried it by now. I don't think I did take a screen of that yet. I will get one on here as soon as i get that laptop put back together. Hope I remember where all the screws go by now.
I clicked before scanning and lost to virus roulette. How dumb is it to have to take out over 40 screws and hidden clips to get the HD out of a Panasonic W2? I call it my not-so-toughbook at this point. Anyway just to clean the drive I had to do all of this. I know I could have reloaded but just didn't want the chance of saving some virus stuff before saving important stuff the way windows was acting being infected. Killed it, cleaned it and need to put it back together fully. Then I can get a screen shot of TB and even some more triple head to go action along side. |
