Thank you to Rugg for helping me get registered.
I've looked at this, and then decided it wasn't for me, then looked at it again, then decided it wasn't for me. Over and over. But people like Wild Bill are putting videos on Youtube and it never fails to impress. Here has always been my problem - I do not want to run networked. I only have one machine, and I only want to run one machine. I've also been very happy with my four CH MFPs. But I have to be honest, I just think that there are going to be some things that they just won't be able to do. I think about how ICP/UFC are very different between aircraft, and TB seems to be a very good idea. I've seen how some items on modern aircraft have a lot of bloody buttons, such as the nav computer on the A-10. The MFP is limited to 50 keys and I think that could be a problem. So TB seems like the perfect solution to this issue. So I guess I'm still undecided, but I'm thinking that rather than thinking either/or, I should be looking to combine these systems together. So I imagine I'll be reading and asking a bunch of questions. I'll ask those in new posts as I try to understand everything a bit better. I would also like to comment on some of the profiles I've looked at from this site. There are some incredibly talented people (not just Rugg and Wild Bill) and that talent I think really does sell it. Thank you for allowing me to become a full member. |

Corsair, you know how much of a CH fanboi I am. I can't say anything nice enough about their products, software or their employees. I own 5 CH controllers but I don't own an MFP. The main reason is that I fear I'd only use it for first person shooters, which is what I use my Ergodex for. I found that with my touchscreens I can do almost what CH can do (yes TB has limitations). But as you've pointed out you can have different setups for different aircraft.
For instance, my F-15 profile for Lock On. Say you wanna turn on your nose gear light. You need to know that in the real bird the switch is on the left set of panels. Engine start? Right set. There's just so much you can do graphically with TB that you can fly any plane you like, just by touching a shortcut on your desktop. On my server/client rig I have 3 profiles, and each profile runs on a left and a right monitor. So I have 6 shortcuts. Double tap each shortcut and they load up on the correct "page" and in the exact format you want them to. Additionally, the switches can be animated so that you see a visual cue when you touch them. When I saw Zorlac's first vid he posted on the Lock On forums I knew that this was the route I wanted to take. He gave Abomb and I a beta copy and I went to work making buttons. Everything grew from there. IMHO TouchBuddy is the best all around option as a game controller. And it's free.
