That 4 point clear and calibrate did work for me. But when I did the 9 point linearization it screwed it up even worse. The 4 point is close enough, but not perfect. But I think it will work...

WBK,

I've been following this thread for a while as I too plan on upgrading my flight sim system to Win 7 sometime next year. Currently, I'm using TouchBuddy in a network environment attached to an older Win XP system. My dedicated flight sim system is also Win XP.

1. So my question is, is the calibration issue a driver issue, or a problem with the TouchBuddy system?

2. If it is a TouchBuddy problem, is there a chance the original developer might fix this? I would think that if he is still a gamer and is also using TouchBuddy, he will eventually confront this issue when he upgrades?

Anyway, I appreciate your support and the fact you are working hard at keeping this website alive.

Hey Bill,

No, this is not a Touchbuddy issue. This is strictly with the device.

It worked fine on my old Dell pc that I have been using for 2 years now. Then I built a new pc running Win XP pro 64 bit, and it also worked fine there. About 3 months later it started doing this. When I touch the screen, the mouse would appear and click about 1/4" - 1/2" s/w of my finger. I tried all kinds of 4 & 9 point calibrations and it didn't help. Neither did changing drivers. So, I hooked it back up to my old dell pc it worked fine there still. So, I assume the hardware device is fine. One difference is that I am using a 6ft video extension cable to hook the touchscreen up to the new pc. For the old dell pc I don't need that as it is right next to the touchscreen. I have been wondering if this may be an issue, but have not tested it yet. And it was working this way at first.

Then I formatted my hd and installed Windows 7 64 bit about a month ago. I assumed a new install of an OS would fix it. Nope.. I was very suprised to see the same problem on Win7. That kind of makes me think it's some kind of hardware issue maybe. I need to remove that video extension cable and test it sometime.

Bill, did you get your touchscreen to work with Win 7? I see that this OS can have issues with touchscreen drivers. I have my ts set up, but when I touch it, it acts like a mouse on the main screen. Can't seem to get it to recognize programs on the ts monitor. Researching this on the net leads me to believe this is a Win 7 issue. any ideas?

Yes, I got it to work. The issue you are having is different to mine and is not a problem with Win7. It's a setup problem I believe. Try setting up your system using these instructions:

Setting up your Touchscreen and TouckKit Drivers

Already been there, understand it, got it set up correctly with 3M drivers for 3M touchscreen. Calibrates and is properly identified. Problem is, I can't seem to get it out of "mouse emulation" mode; ie, move the finger on the touchscreen, and the reaction is on the primary monitor (not on the secondary monitor, touchscreen). Properly set up multiple monitor wise. No options in 3M software to "disable mouse emulation". I've used Egalax and eeee... and caltouch and touchkit; they don't seem to identify the 3M touchscreen properly. Utterly baffled. Thought I saw other 3M touchscreen users around here...

I don't know those drivers. But with the TouchKit drivers I believe the problem was that you did not have the drivers mapped to the touchscreen display, they were pointing the touchscreen's mouse to the primary display. And this was a known problem that when you did doubleclick and map it that it didn't take. Sometimes you had to do it again, two or three times. But it would always work, just not the first time.
