Just found this link in the russian / english Lock On forum.
http://s146918821.onlinehome.fr/lota...lotatc#gallery Does anyone of you know how to implement this into TB ? As far as i can see on the pictures this seems to be a kind of GPS MAP-View or something like that ( made for situational awareness ? ) ... anyone who already used this LOTATC thing ? my french is a little rusty greetings GSG_9_LIGHTNING |

Thats the biggest problem with Lockon right now... if you need to export all "world" objects for ATC type programs, then due to a small oversight in patch v1.12, if you enable it on the server, you also enable all clients to export the postion of ALL objects in game... this is VERY bad, and prone to cheating. I`m not the greatest (and by no means the fastest) coder in the world, but I had a basic all-seeing, all-knowing client side ATC app written in about 8 hours from beginning to end. It wasnt pretty, but it did the job, and proved a point about servers that export world objects.
From a TB integration point of view, if its not an ActiveX module, then its not going to be possible to do it (right now anyway).

Sometimes i am hosting multiplayer games for Lock On on Hyperlobby known as GSG_9_SERVER
These COOP-Missions are ONLY Human vs. Computer AI. I activate EXTERNAL VIEWs in my missions to let people enjoy the beauty of the planes they are flying. Its nice to see all the included Tanks, SAM sites and Missiles and stuff. Not to forget there are also lots of newbie pilots, who are not able to locate a ground target just by using the RWR and switching waypoints and most of the clients dont even read the briefings ... ( some arent even able to read the Server description on hyperlobby )In my opinion "cheating" would not be the right word if you get some info about the precise location of ground and air targets. As far as i know Air targets position will be located by an AWACS anyway these days ( maybe except of Stealth fighters positions ) And in a real War you have satelite reconnaisance (except on bad/cloudy weather ) but also hidden ground Troups that will laser designate specific targets for the Bombers. So in my opinion such a programm would be kind of realistic dont you think so So far i have to enable MAPVIEW in the game as this does the same job, but me and all the connected clients always have to switch between cockpit F1 and Mapview F10 and i would like to avoid this. Sometimes i fly on other A2G servers and i am really dissapointed of the server settings Just a boring Cockpit view and nothing else. A little Briefing with very few info about the positions of the enemy ground forces and thats all. You fly to waypoint 1 ( Hot Zone ) and that often takes 5-10 Minutes. You fire your missiles, drop your Bombs and again ( if you dont get shot ) a boring 5-10 Minutes flight back to homebase. You cannot even see your nice formation flight of your squad except you are on the last position in this formation. People just need some Cinematic eyecandy ... thats my opinion... but i know this may be the wrong place for this discussion.greetings GSG_9_LIGHTNING ![]() Last edited by GSG_9_LIGHTNING; 08-08-2006 at 12:35 PM. |
