Wow that site looks great... I am wondering, some of the tutorials run in lock on but say they require 1.0 or dont work in 1.1.12a, they say use the correct version. Do they expect you to reinstall everytime you want to fly a broken training mission or is there a way to just load the old exe's?

Anyways, i am finding i need toucbuddy more and more every day, i gotta order the overlay, 200 is a little steep for just an overlay but i guess its worth it.

EDIT: I read that touchbuddy is not working in FSX, is there really not much interest in this? When it does work is there a way to actually simulate a radio stack so that in addition to the buttons there are also displays with the radio and nav frequencies? I assume for this to be possible fsx would have to output the frequencies so i guess a special connector would be needed. does this exisit?

Yes, he expects you to have the correct version for the track, if you want to view it. Actually it is a lot of work to make training tracks in Lock with voice over. That's probably why the game didn't include voice over on most of their training tracks. And since some of the tracks are not compatible with 1.1, he doesn't have time to remake them. Just be thankful that he did as much as he did.

Many of the tracks have been converted to movies now. Which IMO is actually better if you have a second monitor to watch them on while playing the game. I made a video player plugin for TB that is in testing with our testers right now. After I release it, it will be easy to watch a video in TB while playing Lockon. Watch part of the training video. Pause it. Try it in Lockon. And do it again. On my 8" touchscreen it's ok, but on a larger monitor it will be very nice.

Also, a guy named TekaTeka converted ALL of the training in Lockon to .avi videos. You should be able to get them here , but I just tried and the website timed out. He also has another site I think but I can't find it at the moment since Lockon.ru is down.

These are just videos of the tracks, so if the track has voiceover, the vidoes does, and vice versa. But with a 17" monitor, you should be able to read the captions in the video. And I am currently adding voice over to the Su-25t one. When I'm done, I'll see if TekaTeka want's to host it, and let me share it. Having a voice reading that tiny text will be a big help I think.

EDIT:
With FSX, to use TB you need to do Client-Server. In Local mode the extra screens go black. This never happend in FS2004, so I don't know what's up with it.

Radio Stack? In FS2004, running in Windowed mode I you can detach the windows, but I don't remember if they displayed correctly on a second monitor since the game is running on the primary only. I can't help more here.

Yes that makes sense, when I watch I wish I could do it and watch so its perfect. I need to order the magictouch tonight so i get it this week, i sent ruggbutt an email asking about how quick their shipping is. I assume that is the best us deal $200 for the overlay? Anyways, are you running a client/server too? I guess running it locally doesnt work too well...

I think you were the one saying you were getting black screen in fsx, did you ever get that resolved?

No, I have always run in Local mode and have not noticed any loss of FPS really at all. I'm very happy with it.

I only had the FSX Demo, and that made the touchscreen go black. I think Z has FSX and has the same problem in local mode. I think he was going to post a support problem, but don't know if he did. It would sure be nice to get it working like it did in FS2004.

Can you point me in the direction of some info regarding touchbuddy as in how server/client and local modes work, how they are connected, what is required, etc? I found a post about a howto but it said it wasnt done yet.

I just know the basics since I have not done it. But you install TB on both Client and Server. Then look at the Docs folder for info on how to connect.

Start the TB on your Game PC as Server and it just sits there waiting for the Client to tell it to send keystrokes to the game. Start TB on your second pc at Client and open a profile. If you have it configured correctly per the doc folder instructions, it should work. I haven't heard may problems with it. You just touch a button on your second/client pc and it sends a network message to the TB on our game/server pc to send the keystroke. I think that's the basics..

ruggbutt, did you get my email about the touchscreen? I wanted to see if you were 100% happy with the touchscreen overlay you bought. I might get the same thing since I already have a 17 lcd monitor i can use. it comes to $215 for me w/ shipping and a usb connection. I worry that its not as acurate cause its over the screen and there is that gap between them. Does the gap cause a problem? Does it cover the edges of the screen completely? I had a customer who had something similiar and it was like a tiny bit small on all sides so it was always needing to be shifted around to see the edges. If you are real happy with it and their service and they ship right away, I will probably order it tomorrow.

FSX - I have posted in several places about the black screen issue, and had zero responses from anyone, so I think this is a show stopper for FSX until Microsoft issue a patch that fixes it.

TB is a win32 application, and so isnt officially supported under Linux. If it runs with WINE, then cool... but it is not tested with WINE in any way.

Local mode - touchscreen attached to second (third, fourth) Video output

Client/server mode - Gaming PC runs an instance of TouchBuddy in Server mode, second PC runs TouchBuddy in Client mode. The configuration on both sides must match, so the client knows which machine to connect to, and the server knows which machines and connetion passwords it can allow to connect.

Assume for now that TouchBuddy can only send keystrokes to games. Obtaining info from games requires extra code within TouchBuddy (like the active Lomac TEWS and payload modules)

Default Falcon4 AF for me

Lockon looks great - much better than Falcon, but I don't find the flight model or avionics at all realistic, Falcon4's campaign is incredibly immersing. There's a big learning curve for a complete newbie - but if you remember the original Falcon4 you should be OK. If you can forgive the graphics then Falcon4 AF still rules the skies for me.
