There was some sort of an article on TB in a Finnish gaming magazine. Short and not very well written, but mostly positive. Since almost everyone speaks Finnish there's going to be a huge number of new TB-users storming these forums any moment now.

I posted in Frugals (mid-2006) with photo's of Vegas's F16 profile.

This year posted in the Armed Assault thread over at Tactical Gamer.

Frugals reception was as luke warm as TG's reception for whatever reason? Whether it's the initial outlay required to purchase the Touchscreen that puts people off. Or the fact you have to go in to a graphic editor to make your buttons. I don't know? Even WBK's toolkit can look a bit daunting, until you roll your sleeves up, and have a go.

I had a few people in TG who expressed real interest (and who had never heard of TB before). It certainly helped with Zorlac joining in, and answering peoples questions. But on the other hand, it didn't stir up as much interest as I thought it would either.

However, Zorlac/Rugg/WBK and all of us who appreciate TB for its potential, and what it can do now, can't post everywhere. Having said that, I always talk about TB wherever I am.

I saw those posts at Frugals world

I think there are unfortunately people who see that touch-buddy was initially designed for lockon, and for some F4 purists that may be all they need to ignore it.

On the other hand, there are a lot of gaming tools being heavily marketed these days. I think people turn to a trusted source to make their decisions. Good reviews from someone in authority at frugals world or simhq etc would probably go a long way.

Some people dont seem to get their heads around the fact that touch-buddy is free.

Frugal's has a whole different mentality. If you're not part of the good ol boy group then you're open for (at the very least) impolite responses. It's actually quite funny how close minded that group is and how afraid they are to try anything new. Frugal's isn't the site that we want to hit up anyway. CombatAce, SimHQ, sites like that.

Rugg, if you are referening to the F4 crowd, then I agree wholeheartedly. But the simpit builder forum over there seems OK, as does the Janes F/A-18 forum -- pretty much the same folks that I see at simhq. That is how I got wind of this, by the way.

Them and the Thrustmaster crowd. If you don't own both you ain't s**t. I gave up over there long ago because of the incessant leg humping. You can't have a decent discussion without some asshat insulting your lineage or the kind of boots your mom may or may not wear.

Rugg, you should post some of your F-15 screen shots over at the Jane's F-15 forum. All they would need to do with that profile is edit the keystrokes on the hotton spot buttons, and they would be flying -- a keymapping exercise. Not a lot of guys still fly that, but those that do will never give it up. I bet you would get some interest over there.

Some guys are modders to different degrees (my observation). And some are out-of-the-box, off-the-shelf kinda guys, with maybe a patch or two. I think the modder types, the ones that like to do skins, for instance, and are into flight model editing, terrain building, object building -- those are the guys that would love TB. And some sim communities just seem to have a better 'modder culture' than others.

For instance, I was checking out SF:P1/WOV/WOE this morning. What an amazing collection of aircraft those guys are flying! If the carrier ops were a bit better, I think I'd give that a serious look -- beside the point, which is those guys have a real 'modder culture' from the looks of it. I think they would really embrace TB.

Another thought -- before spending $200 on a touchscreen, many would want to know first that it will work 'with my sim'. I remember Zorlac made me that movie to prove it (works with Janes FA-18), and man, that was all I needed. I'm not saying we need to spend time building promo profiles for a dozen sims that none of us really play, but if a few of us, for instance, had a second title on the shelf that we don't fly much, and could build a profile more, why not? I have F-15, for example, but never fly it.... wouldn't take long to conjure up a 'demo' profile and do a test flight. I'm no movie maker, unfortunately, but we could at least test it. and post some screen shots.

What about Naval sims? I have Dangerous Waters, but I've never even installed it... plan to one of these days. Maybe I'll work on that at some point, just to see if adds anything.

Good idea Ripcord. I have Janes F15, USAF and IAF. Do you have a link to the Jf15 forums?

Rugg, here are the forums at SIMHQ.

http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/cfrm

Janes F-15 and USAF both have forums... don't see IAF.
