It's something that I didn't see mentioned here when I started but figured out quickly since I didn't have a ts. I had a second computer (laptop) sitting here, networked it, ran TB on it. Just used the mouse! Actually that touchpad all the laptops have, but even better as I didn't have to find a place for yet another mouse. So for zero $$ investment, and a couple hours of time, I saw all I needed to see to put in an order for a ts asap. And I raced like that for a few weeks. But yes of course you're right, profiles for lots of games are needed to. Just thought I'd point out that you can mention you don't need to invest any money in a ts to use TB. Many people have older crappy computer around and it just may be the ticket, and all they'll ever need. Tommy |

Tippy, good point, never thought of it. Of course, you are assuming we all have a spare laptop laying around. Probably most folks don't.
But because you raise the point, maybe it does make sense to promote the idea a bit -- those that have 2 machines (or 2 monitors) can give it a try with their favorite sim. I'm sure that would not occur to most. Ripcord |

I know it's something that can happen, when people are so close to something, sometimes the obvious escapes them. It's something that I am sensitive to in my own field. As I'm still pretty new around here I'm still learning the hard way a lot of TB-ism's. And in reading the past 6 months worth of posts, I've never seen anybody else mention it. If you are going to run client/server anyway so as to not load down the gaming machine, you don't NEED a touchscreen. Sure is nice though ![]() |

*cough cough* umm, so it's not really mine ... it's umm, work's. ![]() Yes I don't expect people just have extra laptops lying around, but they are not uncommon in a lot of professional fields and professions. Just a harmless little app, noone will notice ... |

Yes, you make a extremely good point there Racer. I know Z and I have mentioned to people that they can download and try TB and TBTk without a TouchScreen in the past, but I don't think we emphasized to use a second screen if they had one. I was just informing them that the app does not require a second monitor. They could download and give it a look before they buy a touchscreen.
But you make a good point. If you have a 2nd pc, or a dual monitor already, you can actually use TB while playing your games by using your mouse instead of touching the screen. Very good Point!

I just stumbled onto your site googling around for enemy engaged 2 info. I have to agree with the original poster that this is the coolest thing to come about since Track IR. So now that I know about it I have lots of ideas for uses and I will be telling anyone I can to help spread the word. Since I'm so new here I haven't read a whole lot before i rattle on...have you tried talking with Edimensional, for example, to get some sort of deal with them? Im thinking they could offer a touchscreen or touch screen overlay product and include your software. They do have some good PR with nitch market products. I love to find new and interesting not to mention useful input devices that makes games and sims even better. The last cool input software I bought was voice buddy 3 and despite the fact some people could think it causes an unrealistic element I say who cares it just makes the game/sim easier to use to be fun...at least for me. Even with that though you are still tied to memorizing how say the commands you programmed. Brings me back to TB's advantage and coolness...visually seeing what you want and need to press. Very very cool. Not even the best programmable keyboard can do it as well. As for the investment factor...using a 2nd screen without a touch screen... Nobody is playing with a vid card that doesn't have dual display and if they are they are getting like 2-10 fps lol so grabbing an xtra crt is dirt cheap to use TB with a mouse at least. Good luck with your marketing or PR campaign...I hope you end up making some money with this project. I play them all...ArmA, LFS, GTR2, rFactor, AAF4, LOMAC soon to get the WW2 flying IL2 46 because missle deaths from miles away gets annoying and kills the fun factor. Not very good at flying because the controls are too complicated to learn and my ADD get in the way lol so should be more fun with TB now. Going to go try it with my new favorite Armed Assault. I suck at that one too but its fun and uses track ir for an FPS which is too cool. Maybe I'll get more tactically savvy with TB running.

Hey! Welcome to the boards aXr!
Zorlac is the one mostly contacting game device companies. I don't know if he contacted ED though. But that's not a bad idea. Quote:
Do you really have ADD? I can tell a little by your 1 post paragraph about so many topics! Hah! But a good post it was. Looks like your into all the sims too. We have TB profiles for all of them I think. Except maybe AAF4, not sure what that one is. Maybe you mean F4AF?Do you have a 2nd monitor, or getting a touchscreen soon? WBK out...

Ahh yes my run on paragraphs...lol written in true conversational style with no thoughts about the grammer lessons way back. lol Oh yea I did mean falcon 4 AF and always mess up the name. The whole F with the 4 instead of 16 just throws me all off lol makes me think of the phantom then im thinking no this is the Iron Eagle plane...you know from the movie. Anyway I wasn't trying to bash the older vid cards or their users, just didn't think any of the old single output ones would be good enough for these games/sims anymore. Lockon really put the hit on my old 9800 xt even now with a 6800gt dinosaur I want more speed. Luckily I have no children to feed so I too plan to build more power soon.
There, new paragraph. Yes I have a couple 17" crt monitors and would love to get the touch overlay for one. SO I tried out the TB with armed assault and I need to do the client server thing now due to no touch screen and mouse constraints. I just fired up the old 647MHz 256MB ram laptop to use with my game rig. All these profiles I've loaded are amazing looking. Ok now looking and thinking which is the server which is the client? Going to search this. |
