Time has come to upgrade my system. Currently I'm running a P4 3GHz on the older pre-775 socket, with 1GB x 200MHz DDR RAM. The video card is a lowly X300 SE. Lol.
I picked up these components:
I hope to get 3 years with a few minor updates. What do you reckon?? ![]() What about you all? Post your specs too! ![]() Last edited by touch-bu; 04-11-2007 at 12:21 PM. |

Looks pretty nice Dodger. I would like to build a new system this year too. I don't now much about the hardware specs nowdays, as I built my first 386 18 years ago, and then a 486 about 4 years later. I bought the rest of my pcs since them. So, I'll need to brush up, or copy a system...
That case is a full tower? Looks pretty good and should last you a long time. Look at my sig for my specs. ![]()

Ive got a Thermaltake super armor, its virtually the same but has a big ass 25cm fan on side, keeps things nice and cool
![]() Its a lovely case, best ive ever had by far, it weighs a bloody ton though ![]() I think the silver aluminium ones are quite a bit lighter, but prefer black myself |

Hey Bill, I never got to build a 386 (though I had one). My first build was a 486SX, which I later upgraded to a DX. Lol.
And then a few more builds until I decided to buy pre-builts. Today though it's hard to find a supplier who has all the parts you like or decent prices for all of them. I shopped all my parts around for a few days until I got the absolute best I could find. Saved about 500 bucks so far. I have built one or two before where I've put everything together, hit the power, and nothing... several hours or a day later I'd typically figure it out, but the time in between is very painful. Glad you like to case too... I was going between the Armor and the Antec 180./D

I was just surfing around and when I saw this... For some reason, it gave me an idea for a new custom homemade case.
![]() Am I just crazy, or does this give anybody else the same idea too? ![]()

Wow that is sweet.
Yould could have a 27" LCD in the base of that thing that pivots up when you decide to use the computer. So you could have this chair in the living room... and when you want to browse, hit the button and voila. Lol. Also, if you have this chair, you would need a button to release sharks with frikkin laser beams on their heads. |

Yea, see... I'm think'in perfect for a Joystick and Throttle. Floppy and DVD/CD Burners/Readers in the front of the Arm rests. Sound controls, Mute, cooling, hotkeys on the arm rests as well. Foot rest comes up from the pedistal, not a screen. The Screen is also the HD TV Projector overhead. A small fridge on the side of the right side. And a Toaster for Hot Pockets, Pop-Tarts, and Toaster Strudel somewhere... haven't figured tha part out yet, but it must be far from the pc, because we don't want more heating....
Actually, maybe use the fridge for the pc AND beers an sodas...?
