I was thinking the other day, and found it amazing all the advances in this program and the toolkit in the last year. That was around the time I found this program and site, and took a stab at writing a profile for it. Since then, there have been a lot of contributions and progression. Rugg's lomac profile makes me want to add more/bigger screens, Snake's Armed Assault is simply gorgeous and functional, WBK's Lomac and now IL2 (w/ Sytrep) are killers, but to name a few. The toolkit is more user friendly today, and none of it would be possible w/o Zorlac's vision of this program. I am truly amazed that the flightsim community hasn't gone absolutely nuts over this, but that is their loss. I go back to the Masterpilot panel, and even built my own switch panel using Xkeys. Both of which lacked flexibility to one degree or another. Even comparing this to something new, like the latest CH offering, MFP... well, there just is NO comparison. The functionality and flexibility make this THE flightsim accessory to have after a HOTAS.
Zorlac and WBK, I've thanked you before, I thank you now, and I'm sure I'll thank you in the future. Well done, gentlemen! ![]()

I think all of us agree on how amazing this whole project is...from concept to actually a working software suite. All I know is I've been trying to generate some more traffic here just on the coolness factor not to mention how universal the package really is for any software. I happened to end up chatting to one of the Enemy Engaged 2 tech support guys the other day and letting him in on the the whole TB project. I still think this should and will get picked up as a full on commercial item in the near future.

Thanks Vegas and all you guys. I read this when I was in Memphis this weekend visiting my sister, but was too tired (her computer was way slow!!) to reply. I just got back a few minutes ago after riding over 1200 miles.
My ass is slowly returning to it's normal shape. Todays ride was 10 hours, and when I pulled into town, it was just at the right time to meet my buddies at our regular Tuesday bike night. I was on the outer belt of Cincinnati on my way... when my best buddy and his girlfriend roar up from behind me, and appear right next to me on the freeway. What Luck! And what a welcome home! They were on their way to the bike night too. I about laughed my ass off... what timing...

Enemy Engaged works fine with TB, BTW, don't know about the sequel. IIRC you can somehow get MFD graphics out of EECH and display them on a secondary screen. If only we had small screens to put that data on and some clever software that could be used for such a thing. Oh well, it would probably just be boring, dull and seriously uncool.
One of the reasons I think TB isn't as popular as it should be is that nobody has sent a touchscreen and TB for SimHQ or the likes to test (AFAIK). I thin it might also be a factor that touchscreens are a bit expensive and there just isn't a TouchBuddy product on shop shelves they could pick up and go home knowing that everything will work as advertized or they can take it back. I think it might be beneficial to have some high profile sim sites review TB and tell everyone how simple to use and powerful software it is and it's not difficult to find a compatible touchscreen and set it up. Hmm, I wonder if any of the Touchscreen manufacturers would be interested in even giving a few $ if someone explained them the situation and told them that with proper marketing a "TouchBuddy Compatible, newest version included!" on the box might sell a couple of screens? |

Good point Andy.
Ive recently purchased a book by Mikes Flight Deck called Building Simulated Aircraft Instrumentation. The guy was curious where i found out about his book and stuff, i explained but also mentioned about touchbuddy.. so hopefully he might mention it in his new book hes writing ![]() I love touch buddy... it has HUGE potential and to be honest, could turn in to an awesome commercial grade gaming, application utility. I want to learn about programming but the ramp up needed to help contribute would be too much for my little brain =] Plus working at my new job(IT in a meat works) is taking up my learning abilities at the moment. |
