Let me first say that this looks like a really neat app and I'm excited to get it running with my racing cockpit.
While waiting for my touchscreen to arrive, I have started to build my TB profile. I like to go in and check my work after adding every two or three buttons to see how it looks, make notes for changes, etc. The problem I'm having is that when I try to do this, TB is crashing. A lot. It crashes, without fail, every time I add, change or relocate a button and then try to reload the profile. I found that the demo profile almost always loads, so as a workaround I have been closing my profile, loading the demo and launching it, closing the demo then reloading the profile I'm working on, making edits in the TB Toolbox, closing my profile, loading the demo profile, closing it, loading my revised profile, rinse and repeat... I'm only meeting with about 50% success when trying to load my profile using the above method. It was suggested to me that this might be a memory issue, and I have seen memory-related errors a couple of times when TB crashes. I have experienced this issue on both the laptop and the desktop PC I am attempting to use for my development. Both are running XP, both have 2GB of physical memory. Is there anything I can set locally or otherwise do to reduce the frequency of TB crashing, or is there something I may be doing incorrectly which is making it so unhappy between profile edits? Thanks in advance for any advice. |

Just how big is your profile?
Another thing that used to cause real issue was some graphics programs saving out images that TB didnt like loading (image loading and processing into raw data is handed off to seperate libraries, so I had no control over them). I cant remember who it was that had problems with this... it may have been Ruggbutt, but not 100% sure.

What version of TB and TBToolkit are you using?

Thanks for the replies guys.
The folder containing all the images used in the profile is 475KB, the TBC profile itself is 8KB. TouchBuddy is v1.3.0 (Rev: 18) TB Toolkit is v1.3 Revision 4 I am using Photoshop CS2 to make PNG images of buttons, so I can use shapes for my buttons which are not just flat and square. Clicking the image will show the full size mockup. |

Looks like your using the correct program versions. And I have profiles much larger that work just fine. My IL2 proifle has 21meg of images and is 89k in size.
If you are still having problems you can send it to me and I will take a look at it. WBK

I've PM'd you a link to d/l my troublesome profile WBK. I should add that I'm running in local mode on both the machines I've been designing/testing on, and most likely will be on the game machine as well.
Thanks ![]() |

I've broken down and created a brand new profile from scratch and TB still crashes just about every time I try to open it.
This program didn't appear to be difficult to use, and with the ToolKit seemed even more straightforward, but it has me pretty well frustrated at this point. I've compared my TBC to the ones in profiles that work (the demo & RacerTippy's rFactor), and I can't see anything that jumps out as so grossly incorrect it would cause TB to crash 99 out of 100 times I try to launch it. How can I determine where or why this program keeps bombing on me? |

I just tested your profile and it crashed the first time in TB. The button listed in the loading status scrollbar was the first button limiter_button. The second time I loaded it it loaded fine. The next time it crashed on a different button. The next time it loaded fine. Crash, load, crash load. It is random from what I can see....
The only 'special' thing you are using is .png image files for some buttons. TB may not like them for some reason... Just a guess, but they are the only 'unusual' thing in your profile. I would replace all of them with a .gif or .jpg image. Make a copy of your .tbc file and just use the same one over and over for a test. If it still crashes then just eliminate one button at a time to find the culprit. But I'm guessing there is something funny about the .png file formats. WBK

Well I guess I'm glad to hear it was crashing on you too, WBK. I thought PNG images were supported, but I'll sure give your suggestion a shot. Thanks for looking.
