Default Is Touchbuddy Open Source?

Hi WB,

Is Touchbuddy open source? Source code available and well-documented? A can of worms?

The reason I ask is; from what I've read, Zorlac has moved on to r/l or other things long time past. But I think this app is worth keeping viable.

It may be possible (in fact, it should be possible, unless it's a can of worms ) to find add'l programmer support to hand off continued development to.

I can think of several features worth adding, that should be theoretically doable: (1) multiple macros per button (i.e. one image sends one macro, the next image sends a different macro); (2) buttons which alter other button or image states (beyond clone -- i.e. a button is a "switch" which changes the graphic of a "button" which is a "light"; (3) given the advanced state of some sims, whose memory states are well-mapped: buttons (or images) which alter based on changes in-memory.

What thinkest thou? If the source code is freely available and well-documented, it's a mere matter of some high-energy, motivated person(s) finding interested coders.

Cheers,
Waxer

You would have to PM Zorlac to get the answer. As of right now, it is No-Source. He has quit the project and I have not heard from him in years. He wrote the app using the Pearl language, which probably isn't the choice that would be made today I don't think.

Heh. Perl; no source. Well, it's not as bad as a Morgan Freeman - asteroid movie. Close, tho . Is a PM the only contact info there is for Zorlac?

He lives in the UK and was a member of the VV504 squadron. If you PM him here it should send it to the email address that he registered. He also has this site. If you look at his sig you will see his link to his xfire sig, so he had an account there also. That's all I know. But Dodger might have some other contact info...
