Default Profile scaling

I was reading the documentation in TB regarding the new profile scaling feature. I have nr of 640x480 for the TM. What are the steps to allow me to use this feature? Is this done using ToolKit. I understand where and how to change the resolution of my TM. Need some spoon feeding to understand the use and implementation of Profile Scaling. Thanks

SailorDoc, go to the folder where you have touchbuddy installed. Open the file touchbuddy.cfg (it should open with notepad). Near the bottom, you'll see a line
profile_scaling = 0 change the 0 to a 1 and you should be good to go.

Thanks Vegas, it did work for some of the profiles but others ie. brewber's su-25t profile did not scale down to fit on the ts. No problem if I change the native resolution on the ts to 800x600. Maybe I should just leave it at 800x600 then I know the other profiles will fit. Thanks again.

i`ll grab brewbers profile and see what is happening. Was it the buttons didnt rescale/reposition, or the background image?

Hey Zorlac,
Using brewbers profile, I cannot see the VIEW Section of buttons on the far right or the LABELS section on bottom left. There are button size and alignment issues in other areas ie. MECH, and such. I have profile scaling enabled, the resolution on ts is 640x480. Works fine using a higher resolution ie. 800x600. Thank you!

Hi All,

Hmmm, the scaling function in TB came after I made my profile, so its completely untested. I also wouldn't expect great things from scaling, mainly because there are so many buttons (and their 'frames') that any scaling down is likely to make the button texts unreadable.

I gotta say, I haven't tested this as my screen in a 8" LinITX with native resolution of 800x600....and I always 'hide' the titlebar to get those extra pixels

Let me know how you get on with it, I'm curious as to how it behaves when scaling is applied.

I also uploaded today an 'airfields' plugin cos I got sick and tired of selecting the wrong airfield when crashi...er....landing on LOFC. It uses the airfield maps from RED/OSCAR but the 'theatre' maps and menu I made - have a look in the downloads section of the forum if you're interested. Its 1.5Mb so quite 'light'.

your tbc file has a window size of 640x480 (when it should be 800x600). This is screwing up the scaling. You dont see it because you always maximise the window after opening.

The scaling works like this:

Look for the original window size in the TBC file
Look for the native resolution size in the touchbuddy.cfg file
Work out how much to scale it up/down by.

So, if the tbc file says the window is 640x480, and the images are outside the window size, Brewber can see them because the window maximises to 800x600. Sadly, when profile scaling is enabled, its saying that the window is 640x480, scale it to 640x480 (i.e do nothing), and the images outside the window stay there.

SailorDoc, take Brewbers config, and change the window width/height to 800x600 and profile scaling will work correctly

Let me see if I can remember what I have done.
First I enabled the profile scaling, changed the 0 to a 1.
Then I changed the 640x480 in brewber's porfile to 800x600.
Then I changed the native resolution on the ts from 640x480 to 800x600. Then when I fired up TB and Lock On, I was unable to touch the buttons on the profile to make them work. I could use the mouse and click on the buttons to make them operate. So my solution was to reverse everything back to the way it was prior and just simply change the resolution on the ts to 800x600. A quick fix and I'm happy with that.

err... almost... no need to change the resolution of your touchscreen,

- Set TS to 640x480
- change the window size in brewber's profile to 800x600
- enable profile scaling in your touchbuddy.cfg
- set the native res of you screen in touchbuddy.cfg to 640x480

run...

Hey Zorlac, any idea why the tabs are black when I drag TB to the area? It's fine when it first starts, but once it is on the touchscreen the tabs are black. It's just a little annoyance, and if I click thru the tabs the text comes back, so don't strain your brain on it. Just wondered if you had any thoughts on it?
