Was looking in my control panel/ add remove programs/ for a little clean up, and ran across this
http://www.tbcokc.org/pics/tbtoolkit.jpg you can see the two entries , one is 33.46MB and the suspect thing is3,191.00MB Anyone else seen such a thing, I mean the one that claims to take over a gig doesn't in fact seem to be there, on top of that it doesn't even have the right icon. One other strike against it is that that is a might bit bigger than my C: drive anyway cheers, JimC---don't ya just love computers?! |

I don't have a clue what that is from. The Toolkit is written in VB6 and compiled by Microsoft's VB6 Compiler. The Download is only 2,272kb zipped up, so it can't be 3,191.00MB. I also virus checked it and it ok. Have you run a virus scan lately?

Yea, I've never seen that before.
Does anyone else have this problem? Personally, as a developer, I would do some research and find out where this is in the registry and take a look at it. Not sure if I would do much more though until I had more info.... PS: I'm off on vacation for 1-2 weeks. Sorry can't be of more help.

Well, I sort of think its a little humorous, theirs not that much room on my c: drive- considering the free space reported. I have no viruses reported and no unusual processes running. I'm going to remove the ToolKit and Touchbuddy, and check after each removal. I have a feeling its really just a glitch. the thing that really gets me is the "icon" its using. I'll let you know results this evening
Thanks. JimC. PS,,,, I will reinstall of course,,,,just looked again at WBK's last post and will check registry Last edited by jimcarrel; 07-28-2006 at 03:15 PM. |

Also, do you have the latest recommended Windows Updates? If it's a glitch in Windows, maybe they fixed it. Now that Rugg mentions it, I think I also remember something like this on my system a long time ago.... Maybe..

Ah, it's a Windows glitch, mine shows ok (0.78 MB). (rant mode on) It's just that Windows is a piece of crap software, foisted on us consumers by Billy boy and his compadres. There is a documentary out there about how he pulled it off way back when with IBM and it is pretty informative, IMHO. Anyway, we are stuck with Windows because every developer writes for it. From what I've read LINUX is a pretty awesome OS, but who's gonna buy into it when nobody writes for it? (Chicken/Egg theory I suppose) I like that logitech icon too, that's special... (ok, rant mode off).

I liked OS2 when the Windows battle started. I got it to run 3 separate instances of Falcon 3.0 in autopilot combat mode at the same time with 20fps. Awesome at the time.

I hav'nt uninstalled yet, but I thought I would share something. I found no virus or funny executable running in the back ground (never know about these things nowdays). I went thru the registry didn't find anything extra to what I expected for registry settings for the TBtoolkit.
1. heres the original pic of Add Remove Programs http://www.tbcokc.org/pics/tbtoolkit.jpg 2. heres the registry pic for the uninstall string for the correct (top) entry in the Add Remove Programs http://www.tbcokc.org/pics/uninstall1.jpg 3. heres the registry pic for the uninstall string for the suspect (bottom) entry in the Add Remove Programs http://www.tbcokc.org/pics/uninstall2.jpg I wonder if the 2nd entry is due to installing 1.01 over 1.00? Really,, all said and done,, it apparently isn't hurting anything. I'll now uninstall bad one first, see what happens and then if need be uninstall the correct one. I think this whole thing may have been better entitled "OT" Cheers, JimC.-----------Hey, Vegas, "feel the power" very clever and neat looking. Last edited by jimcarrel; 07-29-2006 at 12:30 AM. |

Okay, we can finish this chapter and verse. I uninstalled the humongous install of TouchBuddy toolkit and the uninstall wiped out both entries in Add Remove Programs, the uninstall also cleared both entries in the registry.
I did find that the bogus Icon that the bloated install in Add Remove Programs was the Icon for a program to control my wirless optical mouse!Figure that one out. class dismissed, all's well in my cyberspace, the foe is vanquished and I can sleep well tonight. SSShhheeessssh! you gotta love these machines! thanks, JimC. |
