Default Not recognized in X3

Just received a fantastic screen (TM-868) and now I am getting into this whole touch buddy thing. I have 2 questions though:

1. I have created a profile for X3. However, it will not work in game. Seems like the game is not recognizing the screen as an extension ( I am running in local mode). I touch the buttons on the screen, but the ingame pointer moves on the main screen. Once I exit from the game, the screen works as normal. Tried the game in windowed mode as well, but no go.

2. With MS Flight Sim X, I have to run the sim in windowed mode, or the touch screen goes blank. Also running in local mode.

Touch Screen works fantastic otherwise, and I am quite excited to start creating profiles and get this thing rolling, just a few hang ups that I need to work through. Any help would be appreciated.

I have X3 reunion sitting over there [FX: points at corner of desk], never installed it. I`ll get that on this afternoon and see what its doing, and if I can fix it for local mode.

I instaled MSFX a few weeks ago... but not actually run it yet I`ll take a look at that too.

Right, X3.

The problem here is as follows:

When the touchscreen is attached locally and you press that screen, the system will move the mouse cursor to that location and then create a mousedown/mouseup event.... but if the currently active window (in this case, X3) restricts the mouse so it unable to leave the window area, the cursor will never get to the touchscreen, and hence the mouse down/up events are created in the X3 window, and not over the area of the touchscreen. Looking through the X3 forums doesnt fill me with a lot of hope that this is something that would be easy to "fix".

So thats a "no" then Pretty poor coding actually. iL2 PF/AEP/1946 has this problem too, but at least there is an option in one of the *.ini files to disable this feature, and the game works fine with it disabled.. So far, I am unable to find such an entry (or even the config file) for X3.

Next, FSX: Thats a *****, isnt it? Any idea why Microsoft have done that? are you able to use the second screen to place the MFDs, Garmin GPS, etc on it?

I have posted a few messages in various forums to see if anyone knows how to bypass this... if possible

About X3, it seems that the new DirectX (Reading form the X3 forums) is preventing the mouse pointer from leaving the application. Did some diggin on the possibility of multiple mouse pointers, but couldn't find much for the PC. Apple has the capability though. Hoping that running in client/server mode may be a workaround.

For FSX, I do believe you can drag and drop intruments to the "extended desktop". Haven't tried it though. Also going to have to see if running in client/server will work for FSX and fullscreen.

Microsoft is going to be releasing the "Multipoint" technology sometime next year where we can have more than one mouse pointer per machine. May eliminate a great deal of headache.

Well, I guess when I get back from Big Bear, I'll be searching Craigslist for a cheapo PC. Thanks for the confirmation.

Scoochy, so you know what kind of rig you can "get away" with for a client machine I'm running an Athlon 1.3 with a 5200 vid card and 640mb of RAM.
