ArmA frame rate drops like a stone if either Voice Overlay (http://www.voice-overlay.info.ms/) or Teamspeak Overlay http://www.teamspeakoverlay.com/) is running. So much so, that playing the game is nigh on impossible. Jerk, shudder, lag .......Jerk, shudder, lag .....
ArmA is becoming more popular, with the subsequent rise in the amount of players in the TS Server. Having the username display on screen for each transmission is a god send. I use my 2nd PC as a Client for TB (HP Compaq 3Ghz, XP Pro, SP2). I thought I could run Teamspeak and either voice overlay, or Teamspeak Overlay on that PC. With the TS user names displaying over whatever TB profile was loaded. (I only use the 2nd PC to run TB as the client - nothing else). Does anyone know if I could get Voice Overlay to run with TB? Having the user name display on the TB Screen would be very useful. Which in turn, would negate having yet another app running in the background while the game runs. Thanks for reading chaps. |

What you are asking for would put a huge load on TB server and client. The TeamSpeak application has access to all the events that happen, all the time, and internally. For external applications to gain access to that data, especially across the network (client/server), it would have to be polling the TB server (and hence the TeamSpeak aplication) very often, and would probably cause as much lag/stutter as you see already with TSO.

I got a program called TSDisp to work.
Works over my "Tabs" on the 2nd PC running TB in Client - no slow downs, stutters etc. Works as advertised on the Tin. App itself is pretty basic (not as sophisticated as TS Overlay for example). But its functional, and works the way I wanted it to. If anyone is interested, have a read about TSDisp HERE Ta |

hehe... it works great with the Click-Through module (Using window regex "^TSDisp"). I *REALLY* must get that how-to video done, I have been slacking badly about that... sorry!

Thanks SO much for that link Snake, I just installed it last night. I also run client/server, with TB and TS on the client to keep the game machine free. But the TB profile or GTR PD would always obscure the TS app so i could never see who was speaking.
Any idea on how to make the text bigger in TSDisp? No documentation to speak of. It would also be great if they could "delay" the name popup for a second, keep it onscreen so you see who said that sort sentence before it disappears. I have no idea what the TS plugin for TB does, I'll have to poke around with that. I'm guessing it's on it's own tab though. Tommy |

The TS plugin doesnt do what you are looking for. It just allows you to change channels.

That TSDisp app sounds pretty cool I'll have to give it a go, I'm pretty good with recognising voices on my local IL2 TS server since there really is just a core of us but since the IL2 1946 DVD came out the numbers are rising and there are lots of new guys. An app like this could be handy. Mind you its not hard picking out the Aussie flyers who've recently joined.
Hi Zorlac speaking of the click-through module have you managed to look at my Orbiter profile MFD problem? Just to add another thing to your to-do list when you get back. |
