Default re assigning the default trackir keys for lockon fc

i posted this over @ the lockon ru forums and so you know what i am on about i have copied it hear:

after discovering that keeping the default key commands for the trackir software was taking away the original functions performed by those keys i got to thinking, better remap the offending keys, f7 f8 and f9.

so i went into the trackir profile, went to hotkeys and edited them accordingly.
i never use the slow setting so i disabled that.
i changed the 'pause' to numberpad 2,
and the 'centre view' to numberpad 1.

this gave me back the f7 f8 and f9 keys to give me alternate view etc.

i chose the numberpad keys 1 and 2 as ever since getting a trackir i have never really used the numberpad other than to zoom in and out, default zoom and quickly looking at the instrument panel. the view commands seemed like a good choice.

so thats it really, the part i am interested in discussing is the fact that in the ruggbutt f15 profile v1.3, i was hitting buttons and wierd things were happening, such as:

in the game tab
hit formation buttons and my tracker would turn off or go slow etc.
yet the command would never reach the game, hope thats clearish
after remapping the trackir keys, all is good.

ruggbutt,
how do you map the trackir, and more importantly:

if possible could we please get some trackir buttons put on the 'game tab' in the next release of the f15 profile, it would be sweet to be able to centre it etc from the game tab, cheers ggg.

I remap my TrackIR buttons as follows:

Pause: Left Win Key
Center: Right Win Key
Precision: Right Apps Key

I find that this works well, these keys are easy to reach and most games don't use those keys anyhow. And you have to keep the Trap option on, or the Windows Start Menu will popup and minimize your game.

thanks wbk, thats sounds good, trapping the keys is the go, for those ones especially.

as for the trackir buttons in a profile, this will begin my journey into the unknown.
after setting up TB i have just played and played...possibly more than ever.
now its time to get the toolkit out and do some temporary profile editing.
i know ruggbutt will do a far superior set compared to any thing i dig up

maybe there are some trackir buttons done already i can import or paste?
see, already out of my depth , haha

The only TrackIR button I have seen anyone do is the TrackIR Center. You can borrow buttons from other profiles if you like too. Just put a note in your Readme or Profile Header who you borrowed from.

Making these buttons should be easy if you saw my tutorial on making a basic profile. Just make the buttons and put them in an existing profile, like Ruggs. Maybe yours won't be as pretty as Ruggs, but it should work fine.

The Toolkit makes a .bak Backup file of your Profile before the first Save you do. So, if you make a mistake you can't fix, then stop there. Go find that .bak Backup and rename it to .tbc and try again. The Backups can save your butt sometimes.

I made a Center, On/Off, and Precision Mode button in my rFactor and GTR profiles. They are 90x90 pix iirc.

I use the arrow down for on/off and I use numpad 2 for center. I believe I have left arrow mapped for "precision", but I don't recall when I've ever used it.

I'll see if I can't put something together. I don't have a time frame for that cuz I'm swamped.
