Hi:
In setting up Client/Server, I get an Unable to Connect to Host Error when using Port 12000. I am only able to connect when using 80 or 8080. Problem with using 80/8080 is that I am sometimes getting a delay, which I assume is due to other stuff happening on the port. I've tried forwarding at the router and zonealarm etc. Any ideas? Thanks

you shouldnt have to touch your router at all (the router only deals with packets that leave your network, and client/server are local). what IP address are you telling your client to connect to?

Thanks for reponding-I'm pulling my hair out here. I tell the TB machine (running client) to connect to 192.168.1.100 (my game machine running TB server). I tell the server to allow 192.168.1.101 (my laptop). If I choose 80, 8080, 25, 8000 for port on both, TB works. The problem is it sometimes stops responding for a while and then fires bursts of all previous presses. Probably because those ports are used by other programs? If I choose 12000for ports, I get an unable to connect error.
P.S. after RV, no way im going back to AF. Dont know what it is, but there is much more immersion going on. I posted at freefalcon, and the beta dudes know about this problem.

what operating systems are you running on your client and server machines? Are you running any software firewall software on them (ZoneAlarm, Symantec, etc). Have you enable the Microsoft firewall?

THanks Zorlac-it turned out to be Kaspersky. I tried the firewalls but not Kaspersky before-go figure. Its working pretty well now, just the occassional delay-which I think is down to being on a wireless connection that sometimes goes weak?
BTW, is there any need for windows and zonealarm firewall if I'm on a linksys router which blocks stuff unless forwarded? Many thanks

I always run a software firewall on any machine, no matter where it is. I like to know what is trying to connect outbound from the PC, as well what is trying to get in
