Hi all,
I just recently discovered TouchBuddy and am very excited about the prospects. Before I lay down the cash for a touch screen, I would like to be able to run the program on my machine to test the waters. When I first run the TouchBuddy toolkit, I get the following error: Error 53 File not found Occurred in TouchBuddyToolkit.loadmoduleTypes() BtW: I'm using XP home edition. I can then go on to load profiles, but the program crashes when I try to import and implement built buttons. All thoughts appreciated! I'm excited about the possibilities but just want to be sure "all systems go" before my purchase. thanks! |

Not sure I`ve seen this error before... I`m sure WBK (Toolkit author) will be along later to help with your support issue.

I wonder if it's looking for that ModuleDefaults.tbm file.
1) What version of TB do you have installed? 2) Have you told the Toolkit the folder where you have TB? WBK EDIT: Yea, that's probably it. The error was in the loadModuleTypes() function. It's looking for that file in the TouchBuddy folder. You either don't have TB on your pc, or you have not told the Toolkit where it is. It usually asks for the folder when Toolkit starts. But you can also go into the Options Menu and select 'Toolkit Preferences'. Then set the TouchBuddy.exe Path.

hmm.. thanks for the suggestions, but I do have TB loaded. I tried re-establishing the path under Toolkit preferences as suggested, but the path was correct and I still get the error message.
I am running TB v1.3.0 (rev 17) -is there another version I should be running? as stated, I can view downloaded profiles, but when I try to save my own buttons, the program crashes. I'm still psyched over the TB concept and have started looking for screens, but would like "3 Green" before I proceed. thanks all! |

TB v1.3.18 was put up earlier today. Its just another bugfix, and wont affect anything.
This bug does sound very much like the Toolkit trying to load the ModuleDefaults.tbm file in the TouchBuddy folder (NOT from the Toolkit folder). Does the ModuleDefaults.tbm exist in the directory you extract TouchBuddy into?

Yea, that's the only thing I can think of. Toolkit doesn't see the ModuleDefaults.tbm file in the TB folder.

Ok - we're half way there!
thanks guys! I did a fresh install of both TB 1.3.18 and TB toolkit for extra measure - I no longer get the Module defaults error message - (yes!), but now I'm getting error messages when I try to load/modify my own buttons. For example, I'm trying to load a simple button as per the demo video. I created two small .jpg files - one green, one red - with the intent of setting up a simple toggle. I can search, build and import the buttons. After I go to drag the buttons to the editor - to set up the toggle sequence - the program asks if you want to save the button - when I say yes, it says file not found and I get a 1000 error code and the program crashes out. Not sure what's going on b/c I can drag the buttons over to the background screen, but when I try to save my buttons, it crashes as above. Any thoughts on this one? Also, let me just say that I really appreciate your rapid response - better support than most payware for sure! You have a great program, and I look forward to using it soon, once I get past these few hurdles. much appreciated! |

Don't do the Search, Build, and Import method of getting buttons in your profile. That should work, but is more for importing lot's of buttons and automatically building the tabs for you.
In the demo, I show the user to drag & drop the button images directly from Windows Explorer onto the Library Tab. Then onto the profile's tab work area. Try doing it that way.

Got it!
![]() I played around with the drag and drop method, and I came to realize it all had to do with the precise location of where the button icon .jpg files were stored Some how the path was not working correctly. I looked at some of the profiles included in the down load and then manually created a folder and moved the icon .jpg files to the appropriate folder. All seems fine now! thanks so much! On to the next stage - picking out a touch screen - will ramble on other threads for that. Touch buddy here I come! |
