For some reason, I was having a problem getting my screen to align properly in native resolution, so I reinstalled my drivers. Big mistake. Now I can't get my rig to recognize the touchscreen monitor. None of the drivers -- old or new -- seen to help. I keep getting this 'found new hardware' message and can't make it go away.
Any suggestions? Ripcord |

I can't figure this out and it's driving me insane. Windows just keeps flashing this 'found new hardware' crap, and it doesn't allow the touchkit to work normally. Or maybe it is the other way around. The 4 point calibration will show up on the main monitor, when I have not yet checked the support multiple monitors.... but when I check that, then the problems crop up.
I have tried everything I can think of. Plugging in the USB before the touchkit software installation, and NOT plugging it in until after installation. I even went into the registry to delete the touchkit entries there. Nothing seems to help. What really pisses me off is that it all worked fine earlier today. Hell, I can't even disable the damn thing now and leave it be. I have to unplug, it's that hosed up. This is not good. Ripcord |

Sounds like you've tried a lot of what most would try. Maybe unplug the touchscreen altogether, remove all the software, drivers, hardware references in devices, and power off for a while. Keep it unplugged and use your computer for a while. Rebooting it several times. Just let it get used to it not being there. Maybe it will get the idea? Don't know. Then try again.
Or, do you have a restore point to go back to?

I got it back to where I get the 4 point calibration on my main monitor, and contant "new hardware" conflict seems to be gone. I can click on my touchscreen, but touching it gets me nowhere (hate when that happens).
Guess the thing to do is just unplug it all, turn it off and go to bed. Make some coffee, turn it on again, and see what it does. Most likely I except the new hardware messages to start again, but we will see. Anyway thanks for the moral support. Ripcord |

Coffee is brewing, but all is same as yesterday. Seems to be behaving almost normally, except that when I run the 4 point calibration, it comes up on the main monitor. How can I fix this? I think this might be the problem...
EDIT: right, figured out that you can, in the touchkit driver software, go in modify settings FOR EACH MONITOR. I noticed to wrote something about that in your "Setting up your Touchscreen" FAQ thread, but it didn't explain exactly how that worked. For other morons out there like me, that will invariably experience this problem -- don't toss your TM-868 out the window, just click on little monitor, THEN run the calibration : ) Ripcord Last edited by Ripcord; 06-16-2007 at 11:13 PM. |

What part didn't it explain? Right above the big red lettering near the bottom it explains this in detail. Maybe your talking about something else? ![]()

The red letter part is exactly what I was referring to. Didn't notice it right away, for whatever reason -- then when I did, I didn't clue into the fact that I needed to physically click on the #2 box in order to apply the settings to the touchscreen. I guess I'm just dense.
Good thing you did include that in your FAQ, though, or I'd still be hosed up. Ripcord |

Nah Rip, I did the same thing (or it could be that we are BOTH dense! lol).
It can get confusing with all the windows settings, plus, I truly think computers have a mind of their own at times. Glad you got it fixed! (and it IS great that people like WBK are around to help)

Hmm.. Well if that confused both of you, I'll make that red and bold too so people can't miss that.
On that screen I agree it's not obvious. It does say 'Double click on the monitor area to map the touchscreen to the'. Not quite a complete sentence, and easy to miss...

Vegas, you hit it spot on... It is great that we have WBK to give us a slap upside the head and say "pay attention, recruit...!" Probably that was the key element to this whole solution.
WBK - it isn't that I didn't notice your text, but I thought I had that taken care of. What I didn't understand is that I needed to actually click on that little #2 monitor to fix it. IMHO that touchkit driver program isn't too super intuitive for most basic users like me. Anyway, thanks again. Ripcord |
