I have stumbled onto some odd behavior between TB (1.3.0 rev (tried 17 and 18) and TBTK (1.3.4).
I create profiles in TBTK and then when I go to open them in TB, the button layouts do not correspond to the correct tabs. I go back into TBTK and change the layout so the tabs are in the correct order with the correct screen layout, but then when I run TB the layouts do not match. For example, if TAB A has layout 1, and TAB B has layout 2, TB will show Tab A with layout 2 and Tab B with layout 1. hope I am making sense. I haven't done anything differently that I can think of that would cause a change in the program's response. any thoughts on this one? thanks! Last edited by Orbit; 07-08-2007 at 09:21 PM. |

Have you opened up the .tbc file and looked to see what the tabname is for the buttons to see if they are on the correct tab?
Or attach your .tbc file and I'll take a look. I have not heard of this problem before I don't think. But there is a bug when renaming Tab Names. Did you do that at all?

Thanks WBK for your quick (as usual) response.
I opened the .tbc file, and as best I can tell the tab is named correctly. Even worse however, is when I run TB, the buttons on the first page (which should be the second page) gets wiped out. Thanks for your backup option, that really saved me! I did rename the tabs, if only to try to get them back in correct alignment with the right screen layout. I've tried to upload a layout I'm working on for MSFS. (you will recognize some of the buttons, much obliged , but the upload manager does not recognize .tbc files. Is there a trick to upload a .tbc file?as always, I appreciate your help |

BTW: I tried renaming the file to a different extension besides .tbc, but the .tbc extension persists. any tips on either changing the file extension or just uploading .tbc files in general?
thanks! |

Yes, the trick is to first zip up the .tbc file. There is a limit on size, so you may only be able to include the .tbc and not the images. But I can still look at it.
But your comment about the buttons getting 'wiped out' sounds familiar. There is a bug in the Toolkit that when you rename a tab, the Tab does get the new name. However, I forgot to to and change all of the buttons on that tab to point to the new name. So, you need to manually open the .tbc file in notepad, and find all the buttons and give then the new tabname. Get it? Sorry about this. But notepad can make it kind of easy if you just use it's Replace tool, and then just press Alt-N to find the next instance of the old tabname = xxxxx and press Alt-R to replace it with the new tabname = yyyyy.

Using the find and replace method described above, I was able to get the buttons to come up in the correct layout on the correct tab. However, my profle was a work in progress and it would be nice to be able to change tab names and add more as I go.
It seems that once changes have been made to the TBC file manually, TBTK has a hard time "synching" with the new changes. Any updates in the works for future updates (ie late night coding sessions)? thanks! |

So, I don't need to look at this since you got them to show up?
No updates planned very soon. Enjoying the summer.... You'll have to either name them good the first time, or do the notepad thingy for now....

I need to experiment some more, but for now, don't bother looking at the files, as the note-pad-thingy seems to be a work-around.
I'm sure I'll come up with some way to suck up some of your free time, if I hit any more snags. Really appreciate your practically real time support (on a Sunday no less!) In the meantime, enjoy your summer! |

Actually, your pretty lucky. I rode my Harley from Cincinnati up to Cleveland this weekend and just got back when you posted.
