Happy to report that the IBM Surepoint 4820-4FT works with Touch Buddy. It has a large 12.1 inch screen. Hope to be able to toggle between TB and virtual gauges like UPDSpeed.
I'm flying IL2 1946. Thanks for everyone's good work on this project. The set up was effortless. Cheers. Flying Colander Last edited by Flying Colander; 11-22-2008 at 06:00 PM. Reason: typo |

Hendo,
Sorry for the late reply. Haven't signed in for a while. When researching touchscreens for my simulator, I was surprised by how much they cost. There seemed to be an unreasonable premium attached to small and touchable. I had had lot of luck with IBM products in the past which is why I searched on Ebay for an IBM touchscreen. Mind you, all IBM touch screens were designed to be POS (Point of Service) machines -- cash registers essentially. I figured I would get a practically sized screen and a product built for long wear. I was happy to acquire a screen for 60 or 75 bucks. Unfortunately, it did not come with the proprietary data cable. DO NOT get this unit unless it comes with this very bizarre cable which uses an early -- and abandoned -- digital plug standard to send analog signals. I eventually purchased the cable, after months of searching, from an industrial supplier for 25 dollars. Hope my saga helps. Cheers, Flying Colander |

I hear what you say about touchscreens being expensive. Have you considered getting a touch overlay for a basic monitor? That is a much cheaper alternative and would allow you to have a large touchscreen for a much smaller price. That's what a few people have done here and they are very happy with the results.
