Question Screen criteria update? 7" or 8", 600X800, etc...

Any thoughts on the current batch of screens out there. I've looked at some of the threads but many are at least a year old.

The main point I gather is that a 800 X 600 native resolution is preferred.

Any other key considerations?

Preferences of 7" or 8" or does that matter?

Does any one brand stand out?

many thanks! This is exciting!

Found this one - Any thoughts on Xenarc?

Xenarc 840TSV 8.4" TFT LCD Touchscreen Monitor

seems to have the right specs, a bit pricey though

can't seem to find too many 800 X 600 screens

That's the same price I have into a 17"LCD and MagicTouch overlay. Not a good deal.

Found this one too on eBay - looks like a generic of some sort, but not sure the original. Out of Hong Kong.

eBay Motors: 8" VGA / AV Touch Screen PC TFT LCD XGA Monitor for GPS (item 130122055455 end time Jun-15-07 21:54:24 PDT)

Anybody recognize the screen?

Too good to be true?

I don't recognize that one. But there seem to be several generic ones out there.

If you are going for a small one, I agree that 800x600 native res is the best choice. 7" or 8" are about the same, but obviously 8" is a little nicer.

I paid about $180 for my Innovvatek TM-868 8" TFT Touchscreen off eBay. And that was shipped to my house. I would try and get one that is in the US if you are there to avoid hassles.

It seems like the Hami 8' is 800x600 native res and very popular.

I agree WBK - I'm rather skeptical about delivery from Hong Kong, and I am in the US. Also, did a search on the model number and it looks like the HK generic would ship with a Brittish style plug. Could use adapter I'm sure, but still a hassle.

I saw some 8" Hami's on Ebay - all from Hong Kong. Do you know where to get in US?

Also, are the Hami's Wide Screen? (they kinda look that way, but I'm not sure) - are wide screens to be avoided for our TB purposes?

thanks!

ok, here's one more - anybody ever hear of a VM84?

eBay: VM84 - 8.4" 8" TFT LCD touchscreen Car PC VGA monitor (item 180129355740 end time Jun-17-07 20:00:00 PDT)

The specs look good, it's from the US, and the price seems right. Any experience with this one?

I can't seem to find a Hami ouside of Hong Kong.

thanks!

All I was saying was I would try to get one in the US first. But if you read some of those other threads, people have gotten their Hami from HK and were happy with it. So, it's probably not a problem really.

No experience for me, as I only have my Innovatek. Your just going to have to pick one yourself I think. I have not seen any posts from anybody really upset about their touchscreen. They all seem to do what they say.

One store in the US is the MP3PlayerStore. They also sell on eBay. I think I got mine from them on eBay.

This Thread has links to suppliers.
